Cleaners N1 Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Cleaners N1 has taken, and continues to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our business operations and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a serious crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. Cleaners N1 is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business relationships, and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Cleaners N1 maintains a clear and strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, human trafficking, servitude, and child labour. This commitment applies to every aspect of our operations, including the recruitment, management, and welfare of our staff, as well as the selection and oversight of our suppliers and subcontractors.
No employee, worker, contractor, or supplier is permitted to engage in practices that could lead to, facilitate, or conceal modern slavery. We expect all individuals and organisations who work with us or on our behalf to share this commitment and uphold the same standards of ethical conduct.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Cleaners N1 provides professional cleaning services across a range of residential and commercial settings. Our workforce is a combination of directly engaged staff and vetted subcontractors. Our supply chains primarily involve providers of cleaning products, equipment, workwear, and facilities services.
We recognise that certain parts of the cleaning and facilities management sector can present a higher risk of labour exploitation. We therefore take particular care to assess and manage these risks by applying enhanced due diligence to our recruitment practices and our supplier relationships.
Supplier Standards and Audit Measures
All suppliers and subcontractors engaged by Cleaners N1 are required to comply with our anti-slavery expectations as a condition of doing business with us. We require assurances that they operate in accordance with applicable labour laws, pay fair wages, provide safe working conditions, and do not engage in any forms of forced or coerced labour.
We conduct risk-based assessments of suppliers, focusing additional scrutiny on those operating in higher-risk sectors or geographies. This may include document checks, verification of right-to-work procedures, and review of recruitment fee practices. Where appropriate, we carry out audits, site visits, or request evidence of policies and procedures related to the prevention of modern slavery.
If a supplier fails to meet our standards or refuses to cooperate with audits or remedial actions, Cleaners N1 reserves the right to suspend or terminate the relationship. We are committed to working collaboratively with suppliers to raise standards, but we will not compromise on our zero-tolerance position.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Cleaners N1 encourages all employees, workers, contractors, and other stakeholders to speak up if they suspect any form of modern slavery or unethical labour practice in our business or supply chains. Concerns can be raised confidentially through internal reporting channels or to a senior manager. Reports will be treated seriously, handled sensitively, and investigated promptly.
We will not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith. Where issues are identified, we will take appropriate corrective action, which may include supporting affected individuals, improving internal procedures, or escalating matters to relevant authorities when required.
Training, Awareness, and Continuous Improvement
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks across our workforce. Relevant staff, particularly those involved in recruitment, procurement, and contract management, receive guidance and training to help them identify warning signs and respond appropriately. Information on our zero-tolerance policy and reporting expectations is made available to all workers.
Cleaners N1 recognises that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. We regularly review our processes to strengthen due diligence, enhance supplier engagement, and improve our response to emerging risks.
Annual Review of this Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually by Cleaners N1 leadership to ensure it remains effective, accurate, and aligned with evolving legal requirements and best practice. As part of the review, we evaluate the effectiveness of our controls, the outcomes of any audits or investigations, and feedback from staff and stakeholders.
Following each annual review, we will update our policies, procedures, and training as needed, and republish this statement to reflect our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery within our operations and supply chains.
